TJ started MWA in 2019. Before founding the academy he was an assistant coach at Grand View University, and Head Assistant Coach at Campbellsville University the two seasons prior — where he coached eight All-Americans and a National Champion. He earlier served as Head Coach at Saydel High School, guiding two wrestlers to state-medalist finishes.
As an athlete, TJ was a two-time NJCAA All-American at NIACC, then finished his career at Grand View, placing 3rd at the 2012 NAIA National Championships and helping lead the team to its first National Team Championship. In 2013 he won the USA Veterans Folkstyle National title.
